IOTA @ UCL

By June 30, 2017updates

IOTA (iota.org) is a new type of distributed ledger technology, which has been constructed from the ground up to overcome the problems of traditional blockchain architecture. These problems of fees, scaling limits, infrastructural costs and mining centralisation have prevented blockchain from entering mainstream adoption.

Due to its unique advantages, the open source IOTA platform is ideally suited for use cases such as machine-to-machine payments, nano payments, identity management and data integrity.

IOTA is a founding member of the DIF (Decentralised Identity Foundation) and the Trusted IoT Alliance. The governance of the platform is overseen by the non-profit IOTA Foundation, which includes Dr. Navin Ramachandran from the UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies.
