Daniela Simone

Lecturer, UCL

Daniela Simone joined the Faculty of Laws as a Lecturer in Law in 2015. She is a co-director of UCL’s Institute of Brand and Innovation Law. Her expertise is in intellectual property law and, in particular, copyright law.

Daniela holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford (2015). She completed her thesis, ‘Copyright and Collective Authorship’ under the guidance of Professor Graeme Dinwoodie. Daniela also holds an MPhil and a BCL from the University of Oxford. Whilst completing her doctorate, she taught at UCL and at the University of Oxford. She also revived and ran the Oxford Intellectual Property Discussion Group, served as an associate editor of the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal and held the position of Junior Dean at Worcester College.

Before moving to the UK, Daniela completed a Diploma of Legal Practice (College of Law) and was admitted to legal practice at the Supreme Court of NSW (Australia). Daniela was a graduate lawyer at Ashurst’s Sydney office, rotating through a number of groups and then settling in the Intellectual Property and Communications team.
