Margie Cheeseman

Margie is an anthropologist based at the Oxford Internet Institute. Her doctoral research critically examines the socio-technical imaginaries and effects of blockchain technologies in humanitarian contexts. Margie has worked at the Centre for Research on Sociocultural Change (CReSC) on various projects evaluating the value of digital media in cultural diplomacy projects and for refugees. She has published Syrian Refugees and the Digital Passage to Europe, a paper examining the role of digital infrastructures and smartphones in contexts of forced migration. Margie continues to work for The Observer.
