Pinar Emirdag is a senior vice president and head of digital product development and innovation at State Street. Her primary responsibility is to develop product wrappers around GTS’s digital strategy.
During her career, Pinar has been working on financial technologies and market-structures as a developer/operator of products and businesses. She had been involved in entrepreneurial initiatives as an executive, founder, advisor and Board member: Clearmatics, Complymatic (regtech), FintechPark, R3, Hyperledger, Quantave, UK Digital Currency Association, and Mathmoneyfx (now Symbiont).
Pinar was a member of the leadership team at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) where she was responsible for running the group’s business development team and looking after its cash and derivatives markets. At ICAP, she was the Managing Director responsible for Business Development in Institutional Brokerage. She held a similar role at Liquidnet, a block trading platform. At Citigroup, she was responsible for Business Development at Citi’s Electronic Trading business globally. Pinar was a founding board member of platforms: Turquoise and BOAT, and she served on the governance/advisory boards of marketplaces and industry groups such as Chi-X, BATS and FIX Protocol. Prior to moving to London, Pinar was Head of Strategy at Lava Trading, a technology start-up that was later acquired by Citi. Pinar started her business career as a consultant at Oliver Wyman.
Pinar holds a Ph.D in Physics and M. Sc. Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Brown University. She continues to have academic collaborations and regularly presents at events, conferences, workshops on regulation, technologies and market structures.
