Thomas Bocek

Head, P2P & Distributed Systems at CSG, University of Zurich

Thomas Bocek is a professor for distributed systems and ledgers at the HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil. He is a blockchain researcher and he is also involved in modum.io AG – a blockchain start-up that combines IoT sensor devices with blockchains. Previously, he has served as the head of P2P and distributed systems at the Communication Systems Group CSG at the University of Zurich. He is also involved in the open source projects ICOnator – an ICO engine and the research blockchain BazoSince 2013, Dr. Thomas Bocek has served as the head of peer-to-peer technologies and distributed ledger systems at the Communication Systems Group at the University of Zurich. Before this, he acted as a financial sector software engineer and technical project manager. Bocek’s research foccuses on communication systems and networks, especially on Bitcoin and other blockchain technologies. His work has been published in Internet Engineering Task Force memos and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers journals.
