Dr. Ahmet Aysan is a Professor at HBKU and the Program Coordinator of Islamic Finance and Economy. He has been the Board Member and Monetary Policy Committee Member of the Central Bank of Republic of Turkey and served as a consultant at various institutions such as the World Bank, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, and Oxford Analytica. He was the Deputy Director of the Center for Economics and Econometrics at Boğaziçi University, a member of the G-20 Financial Safety Net Experts Group, an Advisory Board member of Social Sciences and Humanities Research Group of TUBITAK and of Contemporary Turkish Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) European Institute, a National Expert of the European Union, and the Dean of Management and Administrative Sciences at Istanbul Şehir University. Dr. Aysan's fields of specialization are Islamic Finance, Fintech, macroeconomics, political economy, banking, and finance; and he is a member of the editorial and advisory boards of several prestigious international journals. Dr. Aysan, who has many articles published in academic journals, is a recipient of the Boğaziçi University Foundation Publication Awards, Boğaziçi University Foundation Academic Promotion Awards, and the Ibn Khaldun Prize for the best paper on the North African and Middle Eastern Country Studies granted by Middle East Economic Association. He received grants from various international funds including the ERF, Newton funds, and TUBITAK. Dr. Aysan has also served at the advisory board of the Contemporary Turkish Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) European Institute. In 2020, Dr. Aysan has been listed among the top influencers in Islamic banking and finance by an academic article published in the Pacific-Basin Journal.
