UCL <> SDF – Press Release

The Centre for Blockchain Technologies of the University College of London (‘UCL CBT’) and the Stellar Development Foundation (‘SDF’), a non-profit organisation that supports the development and growth of the open-source Stellar network, today announced an agreement to jointly work on educational initiatives that support the development of UCL’s blockchain curriculum and initiatives.

The collaboration will be supported by SDF through the recently launched program Stellar Next-Gen, established with the objective to foster the growth and development of blockchain and FinTech education amongst tomorrow’s business leaders and developers. SDF collaborates with universities and other educational institutions worldwide to support and promote educational efforts that further SDF’s mission to create equitable access to the global financial system.

As part of the agreement, SDF and UCL will have joint involvement in four main areas to kickstart collaboration:

  • Graduate and postgraduate education and knowledge transfer through content and guest lectures across several MSc programmes.
  • Research support via the CBT Lab
  • Co-organization and participation in webinars and conferences involving both industry and academia leaders.
  • Engagement with students on projects through MSc programmes and hackathons.

Dr. Paolo Tasca, Executive Director at UCL CBT, stated: “This partnership reflects UCL CBT’s continued commitment to strengthening the DLT ecosystem, supporting financial inclusion, and increasing the links of our community in the blockchain space.”

“The strategic alliance with UCL CBT allows us to provide support and collaborate on exciting initiatives to advance blockchain education and innovation.” said Justin Rice, VP of Ecosystem at the Stellar Development Foundation. “Introducing Stellar in education and project initiatives can help further bright ideas to open up access to the global financial system.”
